Steady

I am taking a poetry class and last week’s assignment is an “I want” poem.

At first I had difficulty with this because I don’t like to pull from the Universe because then you only focus on what you don’t have vs. what you have.

And then two-fold, you put out into the Universe you are lacking and I don’t and refuse to live in the lack.

I challenge anyone and everyone to think truly what do you want? Even if not in a poem form –

What do you, or would you want? It is fun. Fun to play. Always keep it fun.

This was my best attempt for the week. Revisions are always possible and forever in progress.

Steady

I want my lungs to carry me forward
For years to come
To walk with meaning, with strength
My muscles never too weak to question
Or say, “No you can’t, no you won’t
Not today”

To be steady in the calm, and
In the trial
To life, to laugh, to love
To accept the unknowns as
Willingly and as gracefully as
The knowns.
