We should carry

When the sun sets and
the moon is flat, that beam
across the sky is not meant
for you or me singularly-

it is meant for the world
to see and the world to
believe there is more than.

Not in wanting but
in the knowing.

Where the grass beneath the
earth has yet to rise but
know with enough sun and
water and time – it will.

Our hearts are full,
sometimes tired,
sometimes wise.
Still full.

Many hearts that have been
lifted, we should not carry
their weight – I don’t think
they are expecting us to.

We should carry
their spirit –
their love,
their cause,
their memory
their lives.

While we share in love
and laughter
and light
Of who they were and
who they are to us now.
