Ziggy Stardust

It is blazing hot out today. A 100 or so with combined heat index, temperature, humidity – hot – DEATH-defying hot.

I re-read my last post; I had a lot to process – a lot!

Since I wrote last, I changed my position a bit. I have decided to take this opportunity to get in the BEST shape of my life. I have so much work to do. I might as well as shoot for the ultimate, supreme goal.

I have been doing researching, posting on the CF website, and created an exercise, nutrition plan. Goals: get my PFT’s up, maintain weight, and eat 2000 calories a day, exercise almost every day.

I researched some more and purchased the P90X; not sure if you heard of it. I purchased it from craigslist. I debated. I didn’t want to pay full price, $130, surprise. And people that were selling it on craigslist were from Rhode Island, but then this guy from Cambridge popped up and I emailed him right away. I got it Monday evening. Sheila was sweet and came with me since it was 8pm at night. Amazon was also selling it for $100, but I got it for $50.

I am on the brink of the program. How much am I going to give into it, I am not sure yet.

Quick rundown:
Sunday: Cardio (mix of recumbent bike and elliptical) for 35 minutes, crazy-lady video: focused on upper body for 15 minutes, then yoga for 15 minutes. A * * * * * star work-out; that is 5 stars.
Monday: Ran on treadmill for 16 minutes, walked fast for a total of 32 minutes. * * * * * stars
Tuesday: 1-hour yoga class. * * * * * stars
Wednesday: Ran for 15 minutes on treadmill after work. Sheila came with me. 15 minute fast walk until 30 minutes. * * * * stars
Thursday: Went to check out swimming. I bought goggles on Wednesday for $25.00; spectacular blue rock star goggles, something like from Ziggy Stardust. I might go back later during the adult lap hour or the temptation of P90X is surfacing.

I feel amazing. There is no way I could have done this a month or two ago. I am going to be in the best shape I ever have been. I am taking this putrid situation into an opportunity – cause really, what else is there to do?

My PFT Chart: Could be boring, could be interesting. Keep in mind, the red line is my life line. It is the biggest indicator how long I live. I need to get that back to 100%, which is 3.5 liters. If the nerd in you wants to know more what everything means is such:

FVC-Forced Vital Capacity – Is the amount of air which can be forcibly exhaled from the lungs after taking the deepest breath possible.

FEV1-Forced Expiratory Volume in One Second – The amount of air which can be forcibly exhaled from the lungs in the first second of a forced exhalation.

FEV1/FVC-FEV1-Percent (FEV1%) – The ratio of FEV1 to FVC and tells the clinician what percentage of the total amount of air is exhaled from the lungs during the first second of forced exhalation.
