Before the moment –

Sitting, watching,
clouds crush,
spring open, dashing
rain beads fall from
overhead.

Fast like light. Their
image breaks open once
the sunlight hits –

Waves of pink, blue,
purple all a glow.

They dance,
burst, take to
the streets.

The two;
the two squint,
meet, eyes – open
arms out, like
a dream
not yet.

They dance back and forth
as if they knew the steps before,
before the moment,
before the moment they met.

Sway as they do
two steps,
turn, move into a glide –

Speed dash in and out,
Under and over each other’s
arms.

We – you and I, can see
their dance; the dance,
the way they do all night.

Speed, sway, taking
over the streets –
their silhouettes
move into one
seamless being –

Under, over
each other’s arms –

Dancing back and forth
as if they knew the steps before,
before the moment,
before the moment they met.

So many there were, now
the two; the two meeting
eyes, arms out, like
a dream not yet.

Fast like light. Their
image closes up the sky.
The moon holds their
glow, their burst,
dancing as they do.

I stand and watch for
as long, for as long as
I can. Until the clouds
cluster, fade.

Time for me to go,
time for me to go to bed.

Dreaming of their dance,
rushing, crushing in.

Meeting as if they knew;
if they knew each other,
before the moment,
before the moment they met.
